
Wellington Quarry: Iron Age, Roman settlement & Early Medieval milling Talk
Overview
A talk on the archaeological discoveries of Iron Age to Anglo-Saxon date, from Wellington gravel quarry. The quarry, lying between Marden and the A49 in the Lugg river valley, has uncovered amazing evidence of human prehistory and history along with changing environments. This talk will focus on periods of time that are of greatest interest in relation to nearby Sutton Walls hillfort.
Robin Jackson, a senior archaeologist at Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service, has worked on the Wellington gravel pit project for 35 years.
Come along and enjoy a fascinating talk and some delicious refreshments! There is also a raffle, so bring some cash!
