Wassail in the orchards - Brockhampton Estate
On Saturday 4th January from 6pm take part in the age-old tradition of waking up the fruit trees and warding off bad spirits in a guided procession through Brockhampton's orchards. Jenny Pipes Morris will lead you through the orchards, with music and dancing, burning of the “Apostle Bushes” and a Wassail Bowl.
The procession will finish at the courtyard, where you can get some warming refreshments from the Granary Kiosk and see Christmas in the medieval manor house, with additional performances from Jenny Pipes Morris.
This event will take place in the orchards during the evening, so we ask that all visitors bring a good quality torch with them, as well as outdoor clothing/footwear, and (optionally) some pots and pans to make noise with!
The procession will follow a 1-mile route along hard-standing paths, suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
