Pigments Into Paint & Ink - Fiona McIntyre - Sidney Nolan Trust
Overview
Artist Fiona McIntyre is delighted to return to The Rodd to conduct another Pigments into Paints and Ink workshop. A member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and founder member of The Arborealists Fiona works with natural materials combining quality mineral pigments such as lapis, lazuli, terre verte, foraged ochres and plant material.
In the morning of this exciting workshop, you will be guided through the ancient methods of mulling pigment with gum arabic on a glass slab and the alchemy of its transformation into watercolour paint.
The afternoon will begin with a demonstration of the methods used for making natural inks from materials such as oak galls, walnuts, berries and saffron to name a few. Participants will have an opportunity to make ink from pre-prepared materials and try it out on handmade paper. After an enjoyable day you can take home samples of your handmade paint and ink.
Note: Paper and all specialist materials, gloves and dust masks are supplied but you should bring your favourite brushes for oil and watercolour, and an apron. Be prepared to get messy!
Timings: 11am - 3.30pm Please bring a packed lunch. Teas and coffees, cakes and biscuits are available in the café.
