New for 2024, Tre-Vern is a stylish Dutch barn sleeping up to 28. It's a sociable space with pool table, hot tub and fire pit. Squish into the sofas on the first-floor terrace and look our over the pond and pretty orchard, planted with many ancient, native varieties of cider, eating and cooking apples as well as pears, cherries, quince, peach and papple. It's the perfect place to sup a local cider from the nearby Pengethley Farm Shop.
For classic design fans
New for 2024 The Stagg Inn at Titley has recently reopened following a total refurbishment by the new owners. The Stagg invites guests to enjoy a gentle tour of the county's lazy lanes in a classic Morgan car. Spend five hours exploring the many artisan cider makers in the north of the county and stock up on your favourite tipples. Wind your way around the quintessentially English black and white villages before returning for a seasonal supper and a comfy night's sleep.
For wild swimmers
The restored cider press hints at the history of Woodside Lodges Country Park, where adventurers can camp in the four-acre Cider Mill Field or amongst the trees in the Orchard Field. There's also Scandinavian lodges with hot tubs as well as pods for the less hardy. The lakes here are fed by a bore hole, perfect for a wild swim or to launch your own kayak, dinghie or paddleboard. A super location for visiting nearby cideries such as Greg's Pitt and Westons Cider
For orchard bathers
Dragon Orchard Retreat in Putley, Ledbury, is an orchard hideaway which offers glamping in hand crafted yurts or self-catered accommodation in a beautiful studio apartment. The focus is on reconnecting guests with nature and their Orchard Bathing experience, Orchard Poetry Trail and Orchard Tai Chi are all designed to energise and restore. Open until the end of October.
For romantics
Ty Gwyn Holidays is also home to the award-winning Ty-Gwyn Cider, making it the perfect spot. Cuddle up in The Cider Shack, as featured on the BBC’s My Unique B&B, which has a glorious outdoor bath, hammock and firepit for a night in à deux, whilst Yarlington Dairy is a cosy single-storey cottage, complete with woodburner. Enjoy a free cider tasting after a day exploring the glorious Golden Valley.
For digital detoxers
Go off-grid at Cwtch Cabins where you can enjoy a wonderful back-to-nature glamping or camping experience. Here in Much Marcle you will be at the heart of cider country so be sure to book in a tour of Westons Cider Mill as well as visits to local artisan makers including Greggs Pit, Lyne Down and Woodredding. You can also walk through the neighbouring orchards on this circular route.
For foodies
Native at Pensons on the Netherwood Estate offers two courtyard bedrooms, making an ideal retreat after indulging in the seven course tastind menu. Passionate about local produce, the team grow or forage as many ingredients as they can themselves including apples in their stunning orchards. For cider making
Stay on an award-winning cider farm set amongst 55 acres of orchards. The scent of the ripe apples is heavenly during harvest time and you'll have the chance to see the cider making process first hand and to sample the wide range of ciders and perries produced on site. Ross Cider and Perry offers a variety of accommodation options: from bed and hearty breakfast at Broome Farm to family-friendly orchard camping.
For large groups
The Crown Inn at Woolhope offers an eight bedroom cider sleepover, available exclusively for groups of up to 16. Owner Matt champions the pleasures of cider with food and diners are encouraged to try flights of cider with their meals to see how local craft makers are leading the way. Three times winner of Best Cider Pub, The Crown is serious about its cider and also makes its own range of King ciders.
For vintage fans
The Orgasmic Cider Company is set in 100 acres of orchards in Eardisley in the north of Herefordshire and offers accommodation in the Green Lane Carriage accommodation – a converted vintage train carriage. All aboard! Guided orchard walks and cider tastings of their award-winning tipples are available.
For family getaways
Escape to the Golden Valley, courtesy of Gwatkin Cider. The Granary sleeps eight and is perfectly located for hikes, bike rides, canoe trips and jaunts around Hay-on-Wye, with the promise of a refreshing cider upon your return.
