Situated in Golden Valley , 3 miles from Hay-on-Wye, just outside the Brecon Beacons. The Smithy B&B offers, cosy cottage accommodation in rooms with wood-beamed ceilings. All rooms have free WiFi and flat-screen TV, as well as a shared lounge and garden. There is a private ensuite bathroom with shower for all rooms, along with a hairdryer and free toiletries. We also have a separate Garden Room – a fully-fitted apartment in our recently renovated Horseshoe Annexe with a private patio and garden.
The town of Hay-On-Wye lies on the border of England and Wales and its history of being fought over by the English and Welsh has made it a unique border town. Hay is a busy, thriving market town which has developed a reputation as the second-hand book capital of the world, following the arrival in the 1960s of the self declared King of Hay, Richard Booth. Today, with over 30 book shops and numerous Bespoke Retailers & Thursday Markets with Local Produce. The setting for the international Hay Literary Festival held in May and a winter festival held in December each year. The Brecon Beacons National Park and the Black Mountains are two of the wildests, untouched and most beautiful mountain regions in the UK, making them ideal conditions for a leisurely walks and breathtaking veiws. For the more active, there are serious hiking opportunities, mountain biking trails, canoeing and many other outdoor activities.
