Mortimer Forest & High Vinnalls
Ludlow
View location
With car parks in the north, east and west, Mortimer Forest is the ideal place to explore and get away from it all. There are a number of walking trails on offer which take in spectacular views, archaeological features and a variety of habitats.
Although originally made up of ancient royal chases and deer parks, the forest we see today was largely planted by the Forestry Commission in the 1920s. It was named after the Mortimer Family, Norman Lords who held power over the region for some 300 years. It is now managed by Forestry England.
The forest is also popular with horse riders, and horse box facilities are available at Black Pool car park.
