The Heritage Centre Ledbury

A stroll up Church Lane is a walk through history, and right at the top is the Old Grammar School which houses the Heritage Centre, the perfect place to find out more about Ledbury's wealth of historic buildings.

Recently updated displays outline the development of the town, and panoramas of the High Street and The Homend take you back in time, listing what all the shops and offices were right back to the 18th century.

At one end of the building there is a magnificent chimney and the remains of a water course, plus displays telling you more about the history of schooling - and some graffiti from past pupils! But what was the purpose of the chimney? Or the water course? Knowledgeable stewards are on hand who will help you answer these questions.

There are quizzes for younger visitors and you can pick up a map to guide you, or some information about the town. If you like to take home a souvenir of your visit there is a range of interesting things to buy. Delicious jams and preserves from a local orchard, beautiful hand-thrown mugs from a local potter, cards with stunning black & white photographs of some of Ledbury's quirkier corners taken by a local photographer.
