Rowan McOnegal Hedgerow Medicine
Ledbury
Informal, practical courses which will enable you to make herbal remedies and personalised scents from fresh and dried herbs and oils. The hands-on approach aims to increase your confidence in and knowledge of the uses of herbs for healing, well-being and pleasure. Courses are held at Rowan’s eco home and are run throughout the year, using seasonal herbs. For example, elecampane root for cough syrup and an immune tonic in the autumn and winter, marigold for infused oil in the summer. We discuss how to make and blend herbal teas for your own use, for medicinal and daily use. All materials are included in the cost of the course, which will be taught outside as much as possible. Rowan is a qualified herbalist with over 30 years of experience as a professional herbalist and teacher. She offers one and two day courses in: An introduction to herbal medicine (weekend course covering the basic principles of western herbal medicine, how to make syrups, infuse oils, ointments and creams). The natural health chest for the home (one day, how to assemble a range of herbal remedies for you and your family). The art of natural perfumery (a weekend course introducing the less well known essential oil used in perfumery, how to blend and make perfumes). Botanical gin and wild cocktails (using foraged herbs to make your own botanical gin) and the spice of life (exploring the medicinal qualities of spices and the fascinating history of the spice trade).
