A swim and a sauna: The Dragons Gate at Garway Hill
Head to The Dragons Gate for a swim in their gorgeous, spring-fed lake. With loos and a changing hut, a decking platform, and even a sauna onsite, you get the wild swimming experience without sacrificing creature comforts. And the views are magnificent! If you’re feeling brave, try a session in the sauna first, followed by a bracing dip in the lake - just make sure to let your body acclimatise to the cool water gradually. You can book pay-as-you-go swims in advance with the team (no under-18s allowed), or stay a little longer and kip in one of the delightful glamping cabins onsite.
Wild swimming and other water-based activities: Woodside Lodges
Over at Woodside Lodges holiday park near Ledbury, you’re in the right place to enjoy a few days in, on and beside the water, beyond just wild swimming. Head there for the day and enjoy a dip in their borehole-fed swimming lake, or set up camp for longer and bring your own kayaks, small dinghies, or paddleboards with you. There are several fishing ponds there, too. There are lodges and pods available to book, as well as a camp site. Guests staying at the park can swim and launch small vessels free of charge. If you’re just visiting for the day, call ahead to book your swim.

Tucked away between Bromyard and Tenbury Wells, the historic Netherwood Estate has two beautiful holiday properties: the Hyde, a Grade II listed medieval hall house, and the Freeth, a listed former hunting lodge. Sleeping 20 and 18 respectively, both make wonderful settings for group holidays. Potter along the estate’s walking trails, soaking up the area’s immense natural beauty, and swim as much as you fancy in either one of their two tranquil, secluded private lakes. Guests are also welcome to mess about in kayaks, and summer 2025 will see the introduction of paddle boats and fly fishing for more water-based fun.
