Clare Balding's Ramblings in Kington
Ali Allen from The Walking Hub in Kington takes Clare for a sunny hike just outside Kington, a town she would like to be renamed 'WalKington' because it's such a magnet for ramblers.
BBC Radio 4's Clare Balding joined Ali Allen from The Walking Hub, a tiny walking shop and B&B, for ramble in the hills around Kington.
She walked with Clare up Bradnor Hill - crossing the highest 18 hole golf course in England - and onto a stretch of Offa's Dyke Path. On the way, they pause at a beautiful bench with outstanding views, including across to Hergest Ridge.
Follow in their footsteps with OS Explorer Map 201, starting off from coordinates SO297566. And for more walking adventures, head to Kington for their walking festival, held in autumn (next dates: 21-24 September 2023) and spring.
On the walk Ali shares her story of life and love in Utah, making a home back in the UK, and coping with rheumatoid arthritis which, despite the problems it causes, doesn't stop her outdoor adventures.
