16th Century Painted Room
1 Church Lane, Ledbury 1DLDescription
The 16th Century painted room was discovered in the town council offices (circa 15th century) in 1989, whilst major restoration work was being carried out. One of the best examples of Elizabethan wall painting, they are an imitation of the tapestries or leather wall hangings that would be been hanging in the homes of the gentry.
Directions
From the High Street, Ledbury, approach the 17th century market house. At the rear of the building you will find Church Lane (cobbled and pedestrianised). The painted room entrance door is the first on the left.
