Wye Valley Brewery
Wye Valley Brewery, Stoke Lacy, Herefordshire HR7 4HGDescription
Wye Valley Brewery is a family-run business dedicated to brewing the best cask-conditioned beer possible and championing pubs as important parts of local communities. We use only the finest quality raw materials – sourced locally wherever possible – and are proud to be recognised as the leading cask ale brewery in the county.
Located on the A465 between Hereford and Bromyard, you can buy bottled beer, polypins and a range of merchandise from our shop at the brewery, alternatively you can order online. Our brewery shop is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.00pm.
We have five pubs in our tied estate:
The Barrels is Wye Valley Brewery’s flagship pub, and was the brewery’s home for many years. A down-to-earth drinking establishment – and 18th Century coaching inn – it’s one of the last multi-roomed pubs in town. It attracts an eclectic clientele who come for the lively, friendly atmosphere and, of course, the excellent beer. It has a large, partially covered, walled and flagstoned yard, which is the occasional home of a heated marquee. Every August, The Barrels hosts a major beer festival in aid of local charities. This popular event includes a wide range of beers plus an array of live entertainment.
The Britannia is a distinctive Victorian end-of-terrace pub within walking distance of the centre of Hereford. Further to taking over The Brit, we substantially refurbished and extended the property. As well as the significant improvements made to the interior of the pub, the garden has been completely redesigned and a new pond added. Another welcome addition is the pub’s new pool table.
The Rose & Lion is renowned in Bromyard for its warm welcome and fine quality beer. Built in 1823, it became a public house in 1848. As far as we know, it’s the only pub in England bearing the name ‘Rose & Lion’. Recent refurbishment has given the interior a contemporary look while retaining key traditional elements such as the flagstone floor. The outside has also seen numerous improvements and is a particularly pleasant place to partake of your pint.
The Morgan is named in celebration of the Morgan car, which is made just a few miles away. Links between us and the Morgan Motor Company include the fact that the first Morgan spent much of its life in Stoke Lacy, home of our brewery. The Morgan, our first pub outside of Herefordshire, is already becoming a cherished part of the local community.
The Pelican is the newest addition to our tied estate, situated in Gloucester. This traditional city centre pub, has an enclosed garden and is ideally located just off Cathedral Close.
