Description
This very spacious, wisteria clad, Victorian farm cottage is situated deep in the Herefordshire countryside, a mile and a half from the nearest road on an organically run farm, mainly dairy but where the owners also sell home grown pork and lamb. Children can watch the cows being milked, help collect the farm eggs or take part in one of the cookery workshops organised at the farm. Large half acre garden adjoining fields – badminton croquet set, an excellent selection of children’s toys and a barbecue. There are lots of walks on the farm using the foot and bridle paths or the disused railway line which runs the length of the farm – bikes supplied if required. The large, half acre garden has an above ground, circular swimming pool for the summer months and a games room in an old oast house with pool table, table tennis, darts and table football. Temporary membership of Bromyard Tennis Club is also provided by the owners and riding, fishing and golf are available locally.
The cottage has been the subject of a complete refurbishment by its very hospitable owners and now offers highly rated, well equipped accommodation. It is some 50 yards from the mainly Grade 1 listed, early 16th century farmhouse, which is the oldest in the area and still has the original Priest’s Hole.
The surrounding area offers beautiful countryside and provides a wealth of attractions for visitors. Within an hours drive are Ironbridge Gorge, birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, the Cotswolds, Malvern Hills, Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons, historic towns such as Stratford-upon-Avon and Ludlow, as well as the cathedral cities of Hereford and Worcester, both 15 miles away. Junction 7 of the M5 is 30 minutes’ drive. Bromyard, 2 1/2 miles, offers the latest local facilities, including a sports centre and theatre.
Glazed entrance porch. Traditional kitchen with oil fired Aga, extra electric cooker and dining area with woodburning stove. Utility room. Main, very comfortable sittingroom with woodburner and access to garden. Further sitting room/children’s play/TV room. Downstairs twin bedroom and shower room/wc. Stairs from kitchen, which divides into two separate staircases (stairgates provided); the first leads to 2 bedrooms – one double with 4 poster bed and adjoining bathroom with corner bath and handshower attachment and one twin; the second leads to two further bedrooms – one double with adjoining bathroom and independent shower abover the bath and one twin.
