Description
Walkers End is a delightful two-bedroom cottage which opened in September 2007, the end of a terrace originally built in the 1890′s for local artisan stoneworkers. It sits on the western slopes of the famous Malvern Hills, a stone’s throw from the Wyche Cutting through the hills, with its own secluded cottage garden.
It is a warm and cosy retreat, tucked away off a peaceful no-through road. The owners, Andrew and Hattie Walker live in the adjoining cottage and will be there to welcome you personally on arrival and handy throughout your stay should you have any queries. A unique welcome tray awaits your arrival, including one of Hattie’s homemade cakes, Herefordshire apple juice and renowned Malvern spring water, bottled only a mile away in Colwall.
Four people can be accommodated in two double bedrooms – one is on the first floor with double bed and a fantastic long-reaching view across rural Herefordshire. The loft bedroom on the second floor has a kingsize bed which, depending on your needs, can be split into two 2 ft. 6 in beds particularly suitable for children.
A well-equipped bright and modern fitted kitchen has everything you should require including gas cooker, fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher and there is a separate dining room with CD player. Should you want internet access during your stay a free broadband wireless connection can be made available.
The bathroom on the first floor has a bath with a shower over. Shower gel, soaps and shampoo are provided together with deep, thick towels.
The living room again has fabulous views and is comfortable and cosy with a flame effect electric fire, flatscreen digital TV with Freeview, DVD player and video recorder/player. There are plenty of board games, a selection of books and plenty of information about the locality.
Hattie and Andrew enjoy walking the Hills, surrounding area, and further afield. If you like they can suggest interesting walks. There is an excellent and extensive range of OS maps of the area and beyond, walking guides and cycle guides provided for you to use during your stay.
The cottage is reached via a flight of steps down from the off road parking area for 2 cars. There is a lovely cottage garden to relax in with a wonderful view all the way to the Welsh mountains. A small terrace and herb garden at the front of the house is the perfect suntrap for morning coffee. Wide steps lead up to a south west facing lawn and decked area with arbour and seating, surrounded by fragrant lavender and colourful cottage garden planting – ideal for sunbathing or watching the sun go down. A barbeque, garden loungers and chairs are kept in the lockable shed, which is useful for secure bike storage.
We welcome children from the age of four and non-mobile babies. A cot and highchair are available.
