The Birthplace of Symonds Cider

We are the new owners of Litmarsh Farm, and when doing some digging into its history, we were delighted to discover that Symonds Cider was started right here in 1727 in what was the cider barn, but is now one of our holiday cottages!. In honour of this, we changed the names of our cottages to ‘Symonds’ and ‘Founders’ (after their ‘Founders Reserve’ cider)
While we were gardening one day, a car stopped, and the elderly lady inside said she was a Symonds descendant, and she had fond memories as a young girl, visiting the farm. When we told her of the new names of the cottages, she was delighted, and said she would pass on the news to other Symonds descendants!
What an excellent place to come and stay in Herefordshire, if you are intending to do the Cider Trail!

Rob and Cobie te Nijenhuis – The Netherlands

Dear Mrs/Mr.

On the BBC we followed the series from Michael Portello (great British Railways), and saw how nice Herefordshire is. On my request you sent us some nice information we used during our trip through this county we were very pleased what we have seen. We travelled to Titley to visit the Stag Inn, a Michelinstar Pub, and Ludlow.

We didn’t know that Herefordshire was so beautiful. Also the good food and the best quality off meat had our interest.

There is a lot to see and we have decided that on our next stay in England, Herefordshire will be the place to be. If it is necessary we will be pleased to contact you again but we thought that it was nice to inform you already about our experience. What a simple brochure can do.

Thanks again,

Kindly Regards

A Hidden gem

This area is a hidden gem – why has it been kept a secret for so long! Loved TV Countryfile coverage of the Wye Valley too!

On our way to Lyme Regis

We live in south Cheshire and have just had a week’s holiday in Lyme Regis with family.

Instead of racing down the M6 and M5 we did a bit of a road trip and went down the A49.  We visited Hereford on the way. How we wished we’d done it years ago. What a beautiful city and the surrounding countryside is lovely with plenty to do and see.  We visited the National Trust property Berrington Hall and got chatting to some people who were staying for a week in Hereford.  The highlight of my visit to Hereford was hearing the choir practice in the Cathedral.  We’ll definitely be back.
