Bromyard

Situated midway between the two cathedral cities of Hereford and Worcester, present day, Bromyard is a thriving agricultural town nestled beneath the bracken covered Bromyard Downs

Bromyard means “broomy enclosure”, an unusual name that stems from its early Romano British heritage. By the Middle Ages and according to the Domesday Survey, Bromyard had grown into a large agricultural manor belonging to the Bishop of Hereford. While the focus of the town has always been on farming, it now provides the visitor with an excellent base to experience unchanged rural England.

Two of the county’s main annual events: the Bromyard Steam Gala and the Bromyard Folk Festival (one of the country’s largest independent festivals) are held each year and popular attractions such as Lower Brockhampton (a half timbered moated manor house well over 500 years old), the Time Machine, Bromyard Downs, Shortwood Farm Park and Acton Beauchamp Roses are a few minutes drive away.
